School History
Starting from a Taklim Assembly. In the early 1970s, Bekasi began to develop as a buffer area for the capital. With the increasing number of immigrants from all over the country coming to the capital area, the need for housing is increasing. In line with this development, in a village located at the end of Kalimalang, a new housing complex was opened with the name Jakapermai, taking the first name from Jakasampurna Village.
Until the mid-1970s, housing designed for around 2000 housing units with an area of around 125 hectares, apparently had very few residents, less than 30 families. With a high sense of concern to always increase their faith and devotion to Allah SWT, on the evening of 14 September 1979, they gathered and agreed to form a taklim assembly called the Al Muhajirien Taklim Assembly. Then on September 14 1982 it was upgraded to the Al Muhajirien Jakapermai Islamic Education Foundation, and on January 15 2002 it changed to the Al Muhajirien Jakapermai Waqaf Foundation. This name change is intended to confirm that all of the foundation's assets, whether in the form of land or buildings, are "Waqaf" which cannot be sold, pledged, or used to obtain credit from banks or other parties.
Collaboration between YW Al Muhajirien and YPI Al Azhar One of the efforts made since the foundation's inception was to organize quality formal educational institutions or Islamic schools. To realize these ideals, on 25 Rajab 1406, which coincides with 5 April 1986, the foundation collaborated with the Al Azhar Islamic Boarding School Foundation, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta. YPI Al Azhar itself was founded on April 7, 1952.
The form of collaboration carried out is the provision of education with the provisions that the Islamic Boarding School Foundation is responsible for the educational technical field (curriculum and teaching staff), while the Al Muhajirien Jakapermai Waqaf Foundation is responsible for the field of educational facilities and infrastructure.
Establishment of Al Azhar 6 Islamic Elementary School Jakapermai One of the reasons the Waqaf Al Muhajirien Jakapermai Foundation opened Al Azhar Islamic Elementary School in Jakapermai, was because it saw the worrying conditions around it, namely the absence of quality Islamic schools. In fact, the number of school-aged children in Bekasi continues to increase along with the increase in population and new residential areas.
Before collaborating with YPI Al Azhar, the foundation had built a prayer room and three local buildings for kindergarten and elementary school as well as one local building for offices and equipped with 5 restrooms and a play yard.
On July 14 1986, coinciding with the arrival of the new school year 1986 – 1987, Al Azhar 8 Islamic Kindergarten Jakapermai and Al Azhar 6 Jakapermai Islamic Elementary School were opened with a total of 68 students for Kindergarten and 84 for Elementary School. And thank God, the public's response was very encouraging, especially after seeing the achievements he had achieved both in the academic and non-academic fields.
In parallel with KBM activities, the foundation also carried out special building construction activities for Al Azhar 6 Jakapermai Islamic Elementary School. And thank God, the first phase of building construction was completed before the new school year started. After the building construction was completed, in the second year, namely the 1987 – 1988 academic year, teaching and learning activities were transferred to the new building located at Jl. North Cendana, Jakapermai – West Bekasi.
